Hockey season is approaching, and this year, potential players and parents will have a chance to find out what the program is all about before registration.
Morden Minor Hockey Website Coordinator Ryan Frost said they will host a Demo Day, Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Access Event Centre.
“(This) gives first time players a chance to get out on the ice and experience some basic hockey drills,” he said. “Members of Morden Minor Hockey executive will be on site to answer questions about everything from equipment to what can be expected through the season.”
Registration will be held the following night, Sept. 5, from 6-9 p.m. at the Access Event Centre. First time participants are asked to bring their child’s Manitoba Health Card number.
Morden Minor Hockey has also made a change to one of their programs.
Formerly called the Pre-Novice program, the new Initiation program is for children born in 2012 and 2013 and is moving to a house league format.
That means players will practice twice a week and play games Saturday mornings in Morden.
“We believe there are benefits of cutting down on the time and travel commitment for families in this program and it will allow us to focus on development for the group as a whole,” he said.
