I probably should of photoshopped my stomach and made it look flat. I probably should of photoshopped my legs to make them look thinner. I probably should of made myself look taller and Smoothed my legs. But I didn’t. Society can really fuck with you. Here is what a real woman looks like on Instagram without photoshop.
The Meant To Be hitmaker, who hasn’t been afraid to confront body shamers online in recent months, took to Instagram on Friday to share a shot of herself posing on a beach in San Juan, and used the accompanying caption to send a powerful message to her followers.
“I probably should of photoshopped my stomach and made it look flat (sic),” she wrote. “I probably should of photoshopped my legs to make them look thinner. I probably should of made myself look taller and Smoothed my legs (sic).
“But I didn’t,” she noted. “Society can really f— with you. Here is what a real woman looks like on Instagram without photoshop.”
Her candid remarks prompted an outpouring of support from her eight million followers, including former Fifth Harmony star Lauren Jauregui, who hailed Bebe’s post and commented, “A REAL WOMAN W (with) BAWDY (sic)”.
Bebe’s bikini picture emerged shortly after the singer laughed off “funny” rumours suggesting she had undergone plastic surgery to improve her looks.
“I’ve never had my butt done. I’ve never had my nose done,” she told Health magazine.
“Actually, I have a deviated septum, and I keep getting sinus infections, and I’m scared to get that (fixed). I’m scared to go under the knife – I don’t want it to mess up my nose!”
And Bebe admitted she learned all about body confidence after seeking therapy following her first experience in the music industry, when her label bosses at the time encouraged her to slim down.
‘’When I first got signed to one of my deals, my managers were like, ‘Are you ready to get into bootcamp shape?’” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Sure! What does that mean?’ They told me to lose 20 pounds, and it kind of messed me up.”
Now the 29-year-old is happy to embrace her curvier figure and is gradually getting to grips with her naked form: “I walk around the house in just underwear and a bra,” Bebe said. “My therapist told me, ‘You should walk around naked; it helps’. I’m like, ‘I can’t do that yet!’”
