The call at the plate was SAFE in this Zone 4 high school boys baseball action May 6 in Altona. W.C. Miller got the season off to a strong start by sweeping both ends of a doubleheader with Morden Thunder by 7-2 and 15-4. Garden Valley won 8-6 over Portage before then losing 10-1.

Ball season underway
High school sports are gearing up with the start of the fastpitch, baseball and track and field seasons.

Orioles prepare to take flight
The Pembina Valley Orioles and St. Boniface Legionaires play a doubleheader this Sunday to get the 2008 Manitoba Junior Baseball League season underway.

Storm have experience on their side
There will be some new faces on and off the field as the Winkler Storm begin play in the premier division of the Manitoba Major Soccer League next Thursday.
