I enjoy working in Morden. I have come to know many people in the business community and look forward to furthering those relationships here at the chamber, says new Morden and District Chamber of Commerce marketing and promotions director Pamela Hiebert.

Pamela Hiebert must love a good challenge, given her new job as marketing and promotions director of the Morden and District Chamber of Commerce.
Not only is she following in the footsteps of someone who had filled the job for a quarter of a century, but she comes to the task at a pivotal time for the chamber ... and on the heels of a recession yet.
"It is a bit of a daunting task,"said Hiebert, who takes over the day to day management of the chamber after the recent departure of Cheryl Link, who is now administrator of the Corn and Apple Festival.
"There's lots of information for me to wade through," she added. "But I love marketing ... I love communications ... and I've always enjoyed working in Morden."
Hiebert comes to the chamber from the sales deparment of Pembina Valley Online and has had over 15 years of business and marketing experience.
She started in business as the owner/operator of Palette Printing, then after seven years decided to specialize and moved to a local manufacturing company.
While working at Decor Cabinets of Morden, she worked on developing the marketing department of the successful cabinet-making business.
With the chamber, she will now be responsible for creation and implementation of a range of new and existing products and services for the Morden business community.
She welcomes the opportunity to influence the future of the local business community.
"I have come to know many people in the business community, so I look forward to furthering those relationships here at the chamber."
One of her immediate priorities will be to continue work on the Business Retention and Economic expansion program.
The BR+E program led to a report that resulted from a comprehensive survey of almost 100 local businesses on what needs to be done to help maintain the commercial sector and enable its continued growth.
"We will need to work on putting into practice some of those things that the report highlights," said Hiebert.
"We will use that report to develop programs and ways that will improve our level of service to the business community," she added. "Our mandate is to help the chamber grow and assist the growth of the business community."
And coming on the heels of a recession, Hiebert suggested there "is a lot more positive outlook this year than there was last year."
Hiebert has been married for over 11 years to husband Kevin, and they have two children, Jane, four, and Aaron, 10 months.
